Friday 16th November Ted Gets to Work

Remember Ted brought in his own shoebox? Well, as it was fairly quiet in the afternoon, Ted decided it was time to make his own box up. Naturally he did need some help and found some able and very willing volunteers. Here are Sue and Judy standing in front of the sign, "One person (or Bear in this case) cannot change the world but you can change the world for one person".

Now where do you start?................. with your helpers and of course an empty shoebox, nicely wrapped and ready to go .

Sue, Judy and Kate had to instruct Ted on a "fair box". Remember Ted? G.I.F.T.S. is what makes up a fair box and each of those letters stand for an item or items that go into the box, so lets see.

G. G stands for a GAME or a toy. what shall we choose?

A ball, always a great toy for a boy or girl of any age.

Happy with that Ted?

No! It's rather a large box so maybe something else.
OK maybe a hand puppet, someone has knitted it and it seems to fit perfectly

Barbara and Bethany have found some super skittles

So that's G done, now I. I is for INSULATION
Something for warmth. Ted had a hat in mind immediately, having already spotted all those beautiful knitted hats of every colour you can imagine, so that's going in, but not without trying it first.

G.I. What next? F. F for FURRY FRIEND something to love.

Easy Peasy there are hundreds to choose from.......but which one??  Oh yes, a cuddly kitten in it's own knitted bag......purrrrrrfect!

G.I.F. Now on to T. T is for TOILETRIES.

Some soap and a flannel and, come on Ted, what is really important?  Something you should use at least twice a day......... a toothbrush and toothpaste...

Nearly complete G.I.F.T. now last but not least S. S is for STATIONERY. Something to write or draw with.

S. also stands for SWEETS, after all we all deserve a treat and there is a toothbrush and toothpaste in there, OK Kate and Judy, help Ted out here, he won't be happy otherwise.

So that's it, a complete G.I.F.T.S, and so a "fair box" Over now to Jane, she is helping Ted to finish up with a nice Christmas card........

...........and his £2.50 donation towards the cost of transportation. That's Ted pocket money spent.

Pop that in the box, label it up with the age group, 2 to 4 years this time, and sex of the child. Ted thinks a girl. An elastic band to keep it all in place and then off to the pile of boxes to be checked.
So, one bear cannot change the world but this afternoon a bear changed the world for one little girl. Well done Ted and all his helpers.
