Yes it was very busy, we had shoeboxes ready to be checked but before we could get down to that Steve turned up with a van full which needed to be unloaded. Heather is lending a hand as it was very full. Well done Steve for collecting them and Heather for helping with the unloading.
...which amounted to quite a pile, that was fine as we had a pile of people too....
.......as the very full car park showed....
...in fact we had 9 collections today, giving us nearly another 1700 boxes....just what we need to keep us busy for a while...
Some special visitors too, Vera has been coming for years (in fact she dealt with the money and cheques for many years, along with her daughter Rosemary who has very sadly died recently) and hates to miss out, she came along again today and enjoyed checking the shoesboxes as much as ever.
More of our regulars who love to come along and work together are Shelia and Jenny.
It's also a family affair with Bernie bringing along her cousin Lynn, Lynn was here for the first time, I am sure we will see Lynn again.
This time last week Gerard stood by a lonely carton, our first in fact. This Monday he is almost lost in the stack mounting up... look for him next Monday, we hope he will be more difficult than ever to see.
All together we worked like the clappers..... yes sorry folks we had to get "that" joke in. We got some Children in Need clappers from Sainsbury's and we all posed for a photo with the shoeboxes and the clappers to show how much we enjoyed the day. Were we working like the clappers or were we giving ourselves a round of applause, it certainly sounded like it, who knows it could even be both?
