Day Four and Still Working Hard
Behind the scenes Gill and Debbie with their team have been
sorting an amazing amount of gifts people have donated, much of which is hand
made. It never ceases to amaze us the growing number of individuals and groups
who work throughout the year making crafts of every type. And you don’t have to be at the warehouse either, at Operation Christmas Child we like to include everyone. We appreciate that, unfortunately, not everyone is in the position to travel to the warehouse. However, it does not mean you can’t enjoy playing a part of changing a person’s life through a shoebox, because that is exactly what a shoebox can do.
Let me give you some examples of the gifts people have made.
Gill went to Cedar Court Care Home where they have been
knitting all year. Just look at what they have done, enough to cover the whole
room nearly, and in such beautiful bright colours too!
Linda here is modelling another of our knitted items, again made by Judy who would love to join us but can't. Hand puppets - animals as you can see. Each one seems to have a character of its own, they are so individual. Linda enjoyed modelling the elephant; she thought the boys would appreciate those.
And then there are the little knitted ducks, very sweet, even
sweeter now as Gill’s team had the brilliant idea of slipping some sweets
inside each one, how clever and what a wonderful surprise for the boys and girls who
receive them. The ducks are really well made and will last a long time….longer
than the sweets inside them we suspect!
Another diligent worker is Penny, who works elsewhere
but still manages to come in everyday to collect the completed forms and files
them safely away, she looks very efficient here in her secretarial pose and
looking very happy in her work. By having your details we can keep in contact with you throughout the year, giving you information and sending invitations to various
events.
Ted has not been very active to date, he has been sitting looking pretty or handsome (as we don’t know yet if it’s a boy or girl) in the hope that lots of our volunteers will try and guess his name, Please don't forget to have a go, we raise £100 doing this, resulting in even more shoeboxes being sent. If you win unfortunately you can't have Ted, but you can be proud of the fact that the name you chose will be the name that goes with him when he travels to Kyrgyzstan to find a child who will love and care for such a super cuddly bear. Today Ted did have a wander around and found this strange shaped object, then another. Ted cannot make out what it is but is sure there are other bits to it. Carry on looking Ted, wonder if anyone can guess before all the pieces are found????
